STCW Medical Care Onboard Ship Refresher

The Medical Care Onboard Refresher is an intensive course, allowing those who have previously completed the STCW Medical Care Onboard Ship course to update their skills and knowledge. This course is designed for seafarers who are designated to take charge of medical care onboard ship. The level of knowledge gained shall be sufficient to enable the designated seafarer to take immediate effective action in the case of accidents or illness likely to occur, involving both practical and theory training. The course will cover:
  • Care of the casualty
  • Aspects of nursing
  • Diseases
  • Alcohol and drug abuse
  • Dental care
  • Gynaecology, pregnancy and childbirth
  • Medical care of rescued persons
  • Death at sea
  • Disease prevention
  • Record keeping
