As a requirement to keep your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), you must complete 35 hours of periodic training every 5 years.

At Train2Survive Ltd, we offer a series of 6 structured modules, each lasting 7 hours, to enable you to keep on top of your mandatory training in a quick, easy and simple manner. We are one of the JAUPT approved training providers, so you can be sure that your training will not only refresh your current knowledge and keep you up-to-date with any recent developments regarding your career, but will also count towards the training that you require in order to keep your Driver CPC Qualification.

Driver CPC Training Modules
3 of our modules have been written by the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and have been specifically designed to meet the exacting government standards required to maintain your Driver CPC Qualification. We offer the following 5 courses, each of which will count as 7 hours of your mandatory 35 hours training:

  • Course 1: Driver Essentials (7 hours)
  • Course 2: Loads & Loading (7 hours)
  • Course 3: Licence Protection (7 hours)
  • Course 4: Digital Tachographs, Health and Safety Awareness (7 hours)
  • Course 5: Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving, Customer Care, Driver Security (7 hours)

Continuation training when required.

  • Course 6: Basic First Aid (7 hours)

Further information about your Driver CPC Training
You can undertake your Driver CPC Training at any point in the 5 year period before your current Driver CPC Qualification expires. It is up to you when you undertake this training, as long as you complete 35 hours of approved training within this period. The next 5 year period will start when you’re Driver CPC Qualification is renewed, not from the date of your last training.

For those holding an ‘Acquired Rights’ Qualification, Driver CPC Training must be taken in the 5 years commencing from:

  • 10 September 2008 for category D, D1, D+E and D1+E drivers
  • 10 September 2009 for category C, C1, C+E and C1+E drivers

(For drivers holding both bus and lorry qualifications, you must complete your training before the earliest expiry date if you wish to keep both licences).

OCRS and Driver CPC

VOSA has stated that receiving a graduated fixed penalty at the roadside would result in 25 points on the operator’s OCRS. If the driver was prosecuted for a driver CPC offence, the operator would receive 50 points. In the case of an operator being prosecuted, it would receive 100 points plus an additional 500 points. Any prosecution against an operator would cause its OCRS rating to go to “red”.
You can be fined up to £1000 for driving professionally without Driver CPC.
